Longlist For William Hill Sports Book Of The Year 2008 Announced

LONGLIST ANNOUNCED FOR WORLD'S MOST VALUABLE AND PRESTIGIOUS SPORTS BOOK PRIZE

WILLIAM HILL have revealed the names of the 13 books long-listed for the 20th annual William Hill Sports Book of the Year, whose winner will be announced on Monday,November 24, 2008 at Waterstones, Piccadilly,London. The winning author will receive a £20,000 cash prize plus a £2000 free William Hill bet.
'We have a wonderful selection of Longlist contenders for the twentieth annual award, and with record prize money on offer it will be the most eagerly anticipated occasion yet' said Hill's spokesman and founder of the Award, Graham Sharpe.

Ed Smith - What Sport Tells Us About Life (Penguin)
Jackie Stewart - Winning is not enough (Headline)
Marcus Trescothick - Coming back to me: The Autobiography (Harper)
Jeremy Whittle - Bad Blood (Yellow Jersey)
Jonathan Wilson - Inverting the Pyramid (Orion)
The Short-list will be announced on BBC Radio 5 Live by Chairman of the Judging Panel, John Gaustad, on the Simon Mayo show on Thursday, October 30. The winner will also be announced live on the programme on Monday, November 24.
