Punjabi Evens To Add Welsh Crown To Champion Haul!

PUNJABI EVENS TO ADD WELSH CROWN TO CHAMPION HAUL!

The reigning Champion Hurdler Punjabi has been installed as William Hill's even money favourite for this weekend's Welsh Champion Hurdle at Ffos Las.

Nicky Henderson’s charge finished fourth on his seasonal debut at Cheltenham last month, where Saturday’s 5-2 second-favourite Medermit strode home eight lengths ahead in third.

Two Irish entrants will head for the race. Where Donna’s Palm – unbeaten in three starts this season- leads the charge as 7-2, from Sabrina Harty’s 16-1 chance Won in the Dark.

Kate Miller, spokeswoman for William Hill, said: ‘’After travelling beautifully at Cheltenham last month before tiring on his seasonal debut, Punjabi could be primed to perfection to add the Welsh Champion to his hurdling CV.’’

Last run at Chepstow in 2002 the Welsh Champion Hurdle boasts an illustrious list of winners that includes Night Nurse, Beech Road, and Ekbalco.

SIS Live Welsh Champion Hurdle (William Hill Bet): Evs Punjabi, 5-2 Medermit, 7-2 Donnas Palm, 12-1 De Valira, 14-1 Blue Bajan, 16-1 Won In The Dark, 20-1 Red Moloney, 25-1 Mutual Friend, 33-1 Treaty Flyer, 50-1 Nortonthorpe Lad, William Hogarth, 200-1 Dreams Jewel
