Harbinger Evens For Arc After Ascot Demolition

After a mesmerizing win in this afternoon’s King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes – Sir Michael Stoute’s Harbinger now ranks as one of the shortest-priced mid-Summer Arc favourites in recent history.

The odds of 1/6 on Sir Michael winning the King George proved accurate when an 11-length demolition from the son of Dansili secured a fifth victory for the Freemasons Lodge trainer, and resulted in an even money quote (from 8-1) by William Hill for the end-of-season highlight.

The four-year-old now tops the betting for the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe with Hills; ahead of Aidan O’Brien’s Fame and Glory, and principal French contender Bekhabad (8-1).

Kate Miller, spokeswoman for William Hill, said: ‘’Just daylight followed Harbinger home in the King George and he now sets an unassailable benchmark for his Arc rivals to aspire to. The collective mass of Highclere cheering from the Ascot paddock was a true sight to behold, and they’ll set Paris alight if he wins again in October.’’

Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe: Evens Harbinger, 5-1 Fame And Glory, 8-1 Behkabad, 10-1 Lope De Vega, Sarafina, St Nicholas Abbey,12-1 Workforce, 14-1 Byword, Planteur, Sariska, 20-1 Jan Vermeer, Snow Fairy, 25-1 Cutlass Bay, Dar Re Mi, Daryakana, Youmzain, 33-1 Midas Touch, Rewilding, Simon de Montfort, 40-1 Anna Salai, Bullet Train, 50-1 Cavalryman (EW 1/4 1, 2, 3)
