Political Punters Blitz Blears

Bookmakers William Hill have slashed the price of Hazel Blears becoming the next Deputy Leader of the Labour party from 50/1 to 7/1, as punters came piling in on the MP from Salford, in what could be one of the great political betting coups of all time. "For a couple of hours this morning it was carnage on the trading floor with punters piling on the 50/1. Ms Blears has been backed down to less than a fifth of the price she was twenty four hours ago and we are monitoring the situation very carefully." said Hills spokesman Rupert Adams. Elsewhere Hills have trimmed the price of a Hung Parliament from 7/4 to 6/4 following a number of sizeable wagers.
